Biography

Birth

Antonie was born on the 9th of January, 1917, in Utrecht^[1], and he was the youngest son of Antonie Cornelis de Nijs and Odilia Fritz.

The translation of his birth certificate reads as follows:

On this third day of September, nineteen hundred and thirteen, we, the undersigned Registrar of the Civil Registry of the city of Utrecht, appeared in the House of the Municipality:

Agatha Johanna van den Berg, without profession, thirty-seven years old, residing in Jan Pieterszoon Koenstraat, who declared to us, that on the ninth of this month at six o'clock in the afternoon in her presence Odilia Fritz, without profession, housewife of Antonie Cornelis de Nijs, cleaner, residing both in Johannes Camphuijsstraat there, gave birth to a child of the male gender, who will be given the name Antonie, the father being prevented from making the declaration himself.

This declaration was made in the presence of Willem Frederik Hennevelt, aged fifty-three years, and Carl Furchtegott Bles, aged forty-six years, messengers, both living here, of which we have taken up this deed and read it to the declarant and the witnesses, who have signed with us.

Death

He passed away on the 12th of January, 1917, in Utrecht, at the age of 3 days^[2].

The translation of his death certificate reads as follows:

On this day the fifteenth of January, nineteen hundred and seventeen, appeared before us, the undersigned Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages of the city of Utrecht, in the house of the municipality:

Benjamin van Steenwijk, undertakers assistant, aged fifty-one years and Willem Frederik Hennevelt, messenger, aged fifty-three years, both residing here, who declared to us that on the twelfth of this month, after seven o'clock in the afternoon, at the age of three days died here:

Antonie de Nijs, born in Utrecht, son of Antonie Cornelis de Nijs, cleaner, and of Odilia Fritz, without profession, the father residing at Johannes Camphuijsstraat.
