Robert Wallace Graham[1] was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on February 7, 1945[1] son to Mary Louise (Malu) Sesler and Horace Reynolds Graham Jr.[2]. Following his father's discharge from the U.S. Navy Rob and his Mother relocated to Maria Elena, Chile to join his father who had taken employment as a Chemical Engineer at Anglo-Lautaro Nitrate Company, partly owned by his father,Horace Graham Sr. (1886-1954), who was the company's president. (Anglo-Lautaro was nationalized by Chile and became Anglo-Chile Nitrate then privatized and became Sociedad Quimica y Minera (SQM) which survives to the present - 2018 - as a primary supplier of Lithium).
Rob spent the next 8 years living in the little mining town, interrupted by occasional returns to the United States to visit Grandparents, and fondly remembered Christmas vacations to his Grandfather Horace's fishing camp on the Tolten River in Catrico province, Chile.[3]
In 1953, Rob and family relocated back to the United States, ultimately settling in Memphis, Tennessee. Rob graduated from Memphis University School in 1963 [4] and attended the University of Colorado until 1966.[3]
In the fall of 1966, Rob enlisted in the United States Navy, most of the first two years of which was spent on training (Electronics Technician A, B, and C schools, Naval Nuclear Power School [5]). He served for one year aboard the USS Northampton (CC1) and three years aboard the USS Hartley (DE1029) where he served as the lead electronics technician from September 1969 until June of 1972 when the Hartley was decommissioned. He was awarded the
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal |
On October 10, 1970 Rob married Doreen Slayton in Newport, Rhode Island.[7] Their son Robert Eric Graham was born on July 7th, 1971 in Newport, Rhode Island [8] and daughter Leah Charise Graham was born in 1976 in Stanford, California,[9]
From September 1972 until March of 1973 Rob worked for DeHart Marine Electronics in Memphis Tennesse, meeting towboats on the Mississippi River to repair their radio, radar or sonar. From March of 1973 until March 1997, when it was acquired by Honeywell, Rob worked for Measurex Corporation. During the course of his employment with Measurex, Rob lived inMonroe, Louisiana (1973-1974) Chester, Virginia (1974-1976), Cupertino, California (1975-1976), West Monroe, Louisiana (1977-1980), Stone Mountain, Ga. (1990-82), and Lawrenceville, Ga (1983-2000). After the 1997 acquisition, Rob continued to work for Honeywell. Rob retired from Honeywell in August of 2015 while living in Temple, Georgia (2000-2017). In the fall of 2017, Rob and his wife relocated to Killen, Alabama (next door to Florence, Ala) on the Tennessee River. [3]
In the event of my death, I nominate my daughter, Leah Charise Graham to assume management of the profiles for which I may be manager at the time. In the event that she is unable or unwilling, I desire that the Wikitree team assume management of the profiles for which I may be manager at the time. It is my desire that the profiles of living people should not be deleted.

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:
•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future
You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.
On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!
Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator
I would like to remain a Scotland Project team member and would be quite happy to continue as Dumfriesshire team lead, Clan Graham team lead and as a Tartan Trail guide. I spend at least 70 hrs. a month on Scottish profiles.
Rob Graham
Phew, that's a relief! Thank you for all the work you do for the Scotland Project.

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!
This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.
We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:
We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.
Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!
Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders
I am team lead for the Dumfriesshire regional team, and for the Clan Graham team. I completed Level 3 of the Tartan Trail last spring. Maybe Next year I'll be brave enough to tackle the next level. I try to spend most of my time working on Dumfriesshire's unsourced profiles and keep an eye out for those with large families. For those, I try to find at least one source, and if the yearly connectathon has passed, I Add children and look for their children. Usually, I will look for sources for spouses and parents as well. I work off both unsourced lists (project and DD) and sometimes off the unconnected lists. One technique I use to find all the children is to use ScotlandsPeople, Old Parish registers. I enter the surname, leave the forename blank, select Both for gender, and a wide time range around the marriage or an estimated marriage, and enter the parent names, and the county, sometimes also the parish. The search then gives me all the children in that time range for those parents. Sometimes one must try different search criteria to get the surname variants - Fuzzy matching seems normally to work best. I would think once a month would be the most often a Newsletter would be needed, even once per quarter would be Ok.

It’s time for a Project check-in!
Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.
What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?
This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.
I plan to continue working on unsourced profiles and GEDCom cleanup. I also spent some time untangling some Graham profiles, mostly Eskdalemuire and Canonbie folk 1600 -1780 timeframe, I worked also on my Crawford and Jeffreys family and their relatives. Recently I worked on the Duncansons (not relatives, but was looking for something useful to do) in the Gedcom cleanup list on the Gedcom Project page, and plan to work on the rest of the list as I complete the current bunch.
I can't really say I use the Google group, although I do read the email, which seems mostly to deal with Team lead changes and Tartan Trail Graduates. I am totally unfamiliar with Discord, your comment the first I've seen the name. I have not heard at all from team leads, which is ok, I'm pretty self-motivated. I would also be interested in working on the Dumfries-shire geographical project. I don't know if I am qualified enough to act as a team lead on a sub-project, but with a bit of coaching would be willing to help out that way as well. I am not a Tartan Trail graduate or on the trail, but could stand to learn more about Scotland's history and geography, and there's always more to learn about finding sources. Regards, Rob Regards, Rob
Thank you for all your efforts in improving Scottish Profiles :) It is appreciated very much!

Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Keep up the great work!
