G2G: A Hayman side was skipped, how do I fix this without retyping out 'new' names that are already there?

Actually, the problem was that my grandfather was misnamed (not skipped - but because he was given the name of his father, which was very similar, in a way, he was?) which really threw me off at first.  I had to fix his first name (which on here was incorrect).  Also, I matched my grandfather to his father and mother and all his siblings - was that incorrect

Also, I noted that some other things in my Ancestory.com were not uploaded correctly into my GEDCOM (that's what it's supposed to do, right?)...I decided to start from the earliest verified source that I have, 

Archibald Lacy

He's my 5th g-grandfather.  I have both the birthdate and year he was born, as well as where.  I also have his year of death, and where.  But on here, what's listed for Archibald Lacy in my GEDCOM shows that I only have the place that he was born, but no birth date or year.  So is this Ancestry's fault, or are they incorrect?  Just curious.

Not sure I understand the question but you can just edit the existing profiles to point to the right parents. Use their Wikitree-ID (Surname-12345) when specifying the new parent.

So if a generation has been skipped just create the missing profile, add the correct parents, and edit the children to have the new profile as their parent.

Hi Elizabeth,

Sounds like you are still working through the gedcom process since I don't see anyone with this name on your family branches. I do not know why some details would be lost during the gedcom process.

If there's mistakes in the gedcom file, you may want to stop working on the file and correct the issue first and then use a new gedcom file. But if it is minor corrections, you could fix them later. I don't have enough experience to give advice on this. If this is a gedcom question, you may want to edit this post and add the gedcom tag. This will get the attention of members with experience in this area.
