My Great Grandfather Charles Dewayne Johnston married my great grandmother Margarget Jane Plumb, 04 Sep 1895 in Mammoth, Juab County, Utah, USA. She had their son Wayne Charles Johnston on 29 Jan 1896.
Their marriage certificate states he was 37 years of age at the time of the wedding, she was 18 years old.
The 1910 census states that my Grandfather's father was born in Missouri, USA.
That is all the actual information I can verify. The story goes, that he went to Butte, Montana, USA to work in the Andaconta mine. He was educated because he was an Accountant. He sent for his wife and son after he had saved the money, she refused to join him.
My grandfather received a postcard from him when he was aboard his ship in WW I. When my grandfather went to Butte, Montana 25-30 years later, he found out that my Great Grandfather was in South Africa and died there.
