Let’s get the genealogy behind the postcard 

Addressed to a Mr. Harry A. Emerson 

Location: Ivoryton, Conn.

Postage date: June 19, 1906

1.) We need a 1900/1910 census of Ivoryton, Conn. showing a Mr. Harry A. Emerson

2.) Who was Mr. Emerson? Where and when was he born? Did he marry have children? Where is he buried?

3.) Did Mr. Emerson serve in the military service?

We need collaboration in his genealogy

Thanks for sharing this vintage postcard! Harrie has a FamilySearch profile with information about him and his family. He married Ruby Barton on 14 April 1903, and they had one son. He registered for both WWI and WWII drafts. He has a Find a Grave memorial.

Oh I see it now spelled as Harrie! It does seem to be a match. The 1910 census shows Chatham, Middlesex County

I wonder who the mystery woman was he married and was divorced from?

He never remarried…

He had one son a Herbert E. Emerson

Note: As the “surprise wedding” article shows a woman named Ruby A. Barton daughter of the town clerk F.H. Barton

Also: the Barton name is well associated with East Hampton. See Wikipedia for East Hampton

I get the feeling the wedding wasn’t approved by her her family

Hi Roger,

I’m working his genealogy research and catching up!

He worked for the locally famous Bell Factory in the 1910 census…I have family who worked there in the early 20th century and they still have plenty of tourist stuff especially bells with their logo

“Bevin Brothers Manufacturing company (also called Bevin Brothers) is a family-owned bell foundry located in East Hampton, Connecticut.” 

He was divorced per 1910 census

I’m confident same person as on postcard however Ivoryton, Conn is not mentioned in census
