They had 6 daughters and 1 son and lived in Edgar Illinois, McCoupin Illnois, and Missouri. There was a James Clifford in the Chillicothe, OH area when John was born, but this is not John's father. This fellow James had a son named John D. Clifford who is 4 years younger than my John. Also, he continued living in the area after John W. left. Perhaps James had a brother named Samuel, a man who lived nearby. Or, maybe Alexander Clifford, also in the area was a relative, although there is no connection to him, as there is with his daughters and son.
