Hi Rosemary,

Scotland's People http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ which is the official repository site for all digitised records for Scotland, shows 6 Birth records for Margaret Lee in the whole of Scotland for the period 1886 to 1887 and only 2 birth records for the year 1887. It may be possible to narrow this further and get the exact birth record for her.

All the best

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Billy. I need to refine my search a bit before I start paying the Scotland's People fees. Several of my ancestors on both maternal and paternal lines are from Scotland, as well as several on my husband's maternal and paternal sides. My daughter has been doing research on the Scotland's People website, and has spent quite a sum of money attempting to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Hi Rosemary,
What I tend to do when searching for records is use family search (https://familysearch.org/) or search on here and see if I can narrow the search down through both sites and them go to Scotlandspeople to get a copy of the certificate.

Use this info with caution (no sources provided). Info comes from Peddie family tree on Ancestry.com (user name carldgoodrich1). Could be a good lead, but further research needed.

Thank you, Douglas, for taking the time to respond. We had seen this information previously, and I was hoping someone might have a bit more detail.

Lockwood is also one of 'our' family names, on my husband's side. HIs branch originated in Yorkshire.
