As the heading says. Just trying to find the correct details for parents of this specific James Duggan, born 1919, died 1994, married Doris Whimpey, married in Victoria in 1944, and seems to have resided in Victoria until their death there. Probably born in Victoria, but possibly elsewhere.
I'm not necessarily expecting an answer to this, unless someone in the family actually knows these details, and is doing the family tree on here. James' birth details should be released within the year at any rate.
The family have given me a copy of the wedding certificate, in which James claimed to be born in Adelaide March 25th 1896, and that his parents died when he was an infant. It is hard to know exactly what to make of this because of the huge discrepancy. Is it possible that he was runaway from elsewhere (perhaps to escape WWI), or that in the process he has taken a different name, or that he was an orphan? Who knows?

Richards at Gladstone Circuit Court yesterday James Gabriel Duggan, a young man, was presented for sentence in a case involving a girl. At Terowie Police Court Duggan had pleaded guilty to a charge of having on November 18, 1938, at Terowie, indecently assaulted a girl aged 14 years and 10 months. Evidence of accused's previous good character was given by Stanley Roy Kerr, farmer, and Robert William White, farmer (both of Arwakurra). Mr. F. P. Adams (Peterborough), who appeared for accused, made a strong appeal for the provisions of the Offenders' Probation Act to be extended to accused who, counsel said, had been frank in his statements to the police and had previously borne a good reputation. A sentence of four months' imprisonment with hard labor was imposed.

There are so many of them.

There is an archive on NAA, which talks of a James Duggan who was a stowaway on a S.S. Surrey between 1922 and 1925. These documents claim that he was born in Liverpool, and had a brother called Patrick, in Barmouth Street.

UPDATE: This could be a case of stolen identity. It is appearing, it maybe the case that a Herbert Mannix Condon, stole the identity of a James Duggan, to avoid WWII service.
DNA testing, seems to be showing up this connection to the Condon family, with 2nd cousins being found there.
So the question is, what happened to the real James Duggan, who was the stowaway?
