Hi Lisa

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Take care

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter

Happy June! So glad to see you working away. Ever so pleased.
And happy New Year to you! Ever, ever so glad to see that you have been contributing.

Eileen, I don't agree with Alexander Bayne being the father of William Bean, based on what I've read. I'm currently working with Clan MacBean genealogists to get the correct information they have on file for this line of the clan, because it is a direct line for me. Thank you for your concern, but I think there has been a misunderstanding. I always do my best to uphold the Honor Code.

Yes, there has been a misunderstanding. I never said that Alexander Bayne is the father of William Bean https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bean-1854 I'm quite sure of that because the research notes I added - town meeting held 1767, William Bean 40 years old, " Bernie heard we came from Croy"....indicate William christened May 1727 was most likely the son of William. Also my direct descendants.

Refer to research notes and other comments on his profile. There are no sources https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources cited in his bio so the information isn't valid. There is no way to prove who he or his parents are.

Regarding your message on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bean-1854. Exactly. Verified with sources. Without sources it is fiction. Before you make changes to familys, siblings, and dates please have source(s) you can cite. There are literally hundreds of people adding there version to profiles on Family Search. Please add an explanation for and have sources to cite that are accessible when making changes to profiles. Please read the honor code you signed when you became a volunteer. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Honor_Code.

Hi Lisa,

Could you please explain your reasoning for removing the parents from the profile of Maria Pinckney? Why do you believe the parents were not correct? Thanks!

Ever so glad to see that you are back on WikiTree. Happy new year!
I'm looking for matches for Samuel West from my mom's side born 1767 and married to Elizabeth Thompson, I have confirmed DNA via ancestry and I am having no luck other than you as hits. I am really searching to confirm his dad Thomas West I have him born 1740 in England, his dad Thomas and Sarah Matthews, but there is confusion on that, others also have Joseph and Jane Owen as parents from NJ, makes sense since he married Rachel Oliphant in NJ, however find a grave and others on DAR have him also in England, so confusing, its been over 1 year of figuring out, hope you have some insight,

Thanks for working to clean up the list of Jesse and Sarah (Peck) Whitcomb's children. This has been on my "to-do list" for ages, but I hadn't put in the time to verify each of them. Did you notice there are two Philos? One of them is not real, but I hadn't determined which was accurate. Many regards, Cheryl Kotecki

Hi Lisa,

How are you? I'm David a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site. Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.

Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources. Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:

Hi Lisa

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 237 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Here is a list of our WikiTree projects you might like to check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects

Why don't you also stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
