Could you please check Duskin_or_Duskins-3 for whom you are PM.

This profile has a database error (DBE#774) in the way that the last name at birth has been formatted.

Could you please either correct the name or add me to the trusted list and I'll fix it.

Thank you

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Betsy,

On behalf of the Germany Project, I am currently undergoing our member check-in's and wanted to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? We have many new teams so have a look on the Germany project page for the full list. We use Google groups for project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup, please submit a join request and we will get that approved as quickly as possible. I wouldn't call these sources derivative if there is nothing in primary records to support the conclusions presented or, at minimum, some reasoned argument is presented in these sources as to why these conclusions were made. Most of this speculation is built on unsupported guesswork that has been around for decades. Citing these sources just continues to perpetuate what is probably incorrect information and perhaps deflect pursuit of research in primary records which might be of some real value. I was at the same point in my research a few times, until I started to disregard material like this and commit the time and effort needed to do actual primary record research. That is when I really started to make positive progress.

Betsy,

I got Question since you only one on here that Knows my DNA. They asking me to confirm my Grandpa Martin Luther Bright Sr. Can be verified DNA. Can we put in statement or what I need to do. You and Christopher only ones who can verify lines does go back to Conrad Kuntz Brecht I1 group. Or could you verify it for me? I got hits on ancestry up to Reverand George Shearer Bright but none of them on here and don't know if Christopher on here. Thanks Billie

Since you are female, if we are talking about Y DNA you can't verify that you have the DNA he had. Perhaps they want to know when and where he was tested and want some sort of link enabling others to see the test. If he was not tested, then they need to see who was, have a link to some verification (documentation . . . maybe birth certificates and census records) that that person was tested and what the results were, then some verification that that person is a male who descends via other males from Grandpa. If we are talking atDNA, then it would be somewhat similar, but would not involve just males. Just show where the person was tested (with a link . . . where can the results be seen?) and how the person connects to Grandpa, with documentation. - love b

Hi Betsy

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 318 contributions to Wikitree, thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors?

Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Again, thanks for volunteering to work on Pre-1700 profiles!

Dorothy, Volunteer Coordinator.
