I’m conducting the 6-month check in for the US Black Heritage Project. Because we are growing so fast, it’s not always possible for me to see what everyone’s working on.
I’d love to hear what you’ve been working on and if you are still interested in being a part of the Profile Improvement, Heritage Exchange, and family Builders teams. If so, we need to help you complete the PATH which is a requirement for the project.
I am interested but time is at a premium. I have only been able to complete one profile so far. Where can I find information about PATH and/or mentoring to make the best use of my time? Thank you.
You had replied to the g2g post with an ANSWER to join US Southern Colonies Project. I then sent you a WikiTree email with the Team links for you to select and return to my email address along with your email address so that I could add you toPr the Southern Colonies Google group and teams.
I have not heard back. Are you still interested in joining the US Southern Colonies Project?
Mary~ Project Coordinator Membership, US Southern Colonies
It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.
Since you’re not working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams yet, please look at our main Project page for a full list and let me know which team you’d like to join.
Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)
If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.
Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for the very interesting and much needed source information you sent me on my ancestor Priscilla Keel Sawyer. I really appreciate your taking the time to compose such a detailed biography with excellent sources that have now clarified the mystery of her maiden name, childhood and parentage. Your hard work and generous help is much appreciate and will be put in her profile!
I am sorry that I was not able to respond to you when you first contacted me. I have been very ill for three months and just turned the corner to recovery. It has been a very hard year for me these past 15 months as I got Covid, then fell and was in a boot for 3 months (am now awaiting to have surgery to replace the hurt knee) and am finally recovering from another massive infection in my lungs. They call us folks who have not fully recovered from Covid....Long Haulers!
Again I thank you for your generosity in sharing your hard work and research on this lineage! I will make sure it gets documented in it's proper place in the near future.
The Germany Project leadership is doing semi-annual check-ins with all project members and we want to verify that you’re interested in being a member of the Project. As a newer member, you would normally be exempt from this check-in; however, I noticed that you have not yet joined our Google Group, where the project communicates. Please submit a join request here.
Just reviewed your info on Mariah Doster-67. I cannot find a source for her name anywhere. Can you give me the source of her surname or when she md Thomas Doster? The Doster Genealogy doesn't have it and the only source is someone's "my family told me." Do you have a specific source?
Thank you kindly!!! Happy New Year, ;-)))) Barb
I do not have specific information about her, only that her profile was created previously. I revised it only with logical deductions. I know this:
1. Thomas Doster and family lived near Winchester, VA, in 1735.
2. When Thomas died there in 1748, his will made no mention of a surviving wife.
3. Thomas Doster and wife's last known child was born while they lived near Winchester in 1735.
4. Therefore, Thomas' wife must have died after 1735 near Winchester.
Since they came from Württemberg, probably half of the women there had Maria, or a variant, in their name. The other half had Anna; some had both. So, Mariah is probably not bad as a placeholder. With no certain information, I was reluctant to detach her profile in the hope that the creator of it would be forthcoming with more information.
That sounds like a way to do it but actually it should be made Unknown Unknown. There are plenty out there!!
Usually what wikitree recommends is to name the person Unknown Unknown with an "about" dob and a death "bef 1735" and deathplace Virginia.
The source would then be the husband's Will.
Someday, it may come out but if there's already a name they may not try. We find new stuff everyday!
Would you be acceptable to that?
Thanks for getting back to me!
Barbara
Since I do not manage and did not create the profile for Mariah Doster, I don't think I should answer whether changing her name would be acceptable. I agree in principle that a generic label may be more appropriate.
Peter Wetherill, Wetherill-26, is the creator and manager of the profile. You should probably consult with him about making changes to the name. He may, in fact, have a rationale for her name.
Thanks for the consult.
Thanks for your interest in joining the Southern Pioneers Project. We welcome you as a member and look forward to collaborating with you on our southern pioneer ancestor's profiles. I've posted a response to your G2G join post with additional details on joining the project
