Stephen Niles Chilton (1839 - 1906) 106th New York Inf., Civil War Vet. Cousins are confusing the research

Stephen Chilton Served with the 106th New York during the U.S. Civil War. His profile is a bit confusing. The dates show birth and death as that of his cousin? See His FAG Link and his first cousins FAG Link. The DOB/DOD on his profile seem to be that of the first cousin! I’m confused 

This civil war pension record shows his company, but I need help reading the letter of the company. It appears to be “E” or “G”

Commissioned first lieutenant, February 18, 1865, with rank from January 16, 1865, vice T. Shaw, promoted.
