This month’s Bio Builders Challenge theme is people who died in June.

Thank you for your support.

Here's our checklist:

Data Section:

  • birth date/place
  • names of parents
  • marriage date/place and spouse name
  • names of children, if any
  • death date/place

Biography Section:

  • Written (full) sentences stating the facts above, adding inline sources to each fact.
  • Is the profile '''Genealogically Defined?'''
  • As a general rule biographies should be in your own words. Paraphrase and rewrite, don't copy/paste.
  • Baptism, burial, military, and other life events with inline sources.
  • Something to "humanize" the person, such as career or avocation with sources.
  • List of children with at least one pertinent fact.
  • Some list siblings. (I think this takes up real estate.)
  • Explanatory remarks, if needed (e.g. disputed persons information, Research Notes, whatever needs extra explaining).
  • Photos or pictures, background. Not a must, but nice (you need to own the copyright unless they are in the public domain).
  • Categories.
  • Connection to the Global Tree.
  • All duplicates merged or initiated.
  • Links to persons and events, perhaps from Wikipedia.
  • Historical context as related to the person's life.
  • Sources, Sources, Sources.

You can see some ideas on where to find some of this information on the Biography Builders space page.

Use "comments" below to ask questions.

NOTE: Biography Builders will not show on the tracker. Please add a list to your answer.

For anyone looking for Australian biographies to build, there are more than 200 listed at Category: Australia, Needs Biography. Have fun!

Even though I don't officially participate in this challenge, I want to let you know that I use your checklist to help me improve all the profiles I manage (and even some I don't.) Thank you for your leadership and inspiration!
    Glad to be of help.
And over 1,400 in Pennsylvania, Needs Biography.  I doubt I'll finish all 340+ on my watchlist that died in June, so if you are looking for more to work on (I doubt it), just let me know.

Experienced WikiTreers will know this, but here's a tip for newbies: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Anniversaries includes death date anniversaries for people in your Watchlist.

Working on a profile that I knew nothing about, turns out she had 13 children. So I am adding 13 profiles before I even get to hers. I had their names in a GEDCOM but nothing else.

In the edit screen, there are four lines of format options - on third line down, just right of center is a small (chain) link. That will open a screen where you past the url and type how you would like the persons name to read.  Save that data when done.  One top row of edit box, just right of center, is the option to number a list. Can click on that in the beginning, or if you already have some listed, just highlight them and click on that # list tool
If he has a profile, you can mention him on any other profile by using the coding:

[[WikiID|what you want it to say]]

That is two square brackets, the Wiki-ID number, a | (found above \ on most US keyboards). his name, then close the square brackets.

I'm in for this month...should be able to get at least one in.

Update: Lots of things got between me and my goal, then after I get all the way through to the death part of the biography, I find out she may not have died in June. No clue where the 13 Jun 1814 date came from, so had to remove it from the DOD field, but did include a note about it in the biography. Don't know if this one will count or not.
