Hi there. I have a letter in my possession that says her name is Edith Regina, and her mother's name was Amy Young. The other information I have is that she was born on 1 or 3 August 1891 in Binghamtom, Broome, New York.
However; I have searched everything including the 1892 census and there is no Edith Regina that is related to an Amy Young for New York. Additionally, it is odd. The lady who wrote the letters (there are 2 - one when Amy signed over her child and one to the adopted parents), was the Dr involved in helping with the Adoption. Amy only signed the one letter and the adopted parents signed the other one. So I dont know if the names are accurate or made up. Another tidbit, the Doctor who was involved was named Dr. Kate Chamberlayne. She was a homeopathic Doctor that lived /worked on 314 Chenango Street in Binghamton, which is very close to the PA border. She was also the stepmother (Virginia Chamberlin (different spellings) Fiske) of the woman who adopted Edith.
