Mayflower Treasure Hunt - Find the primary sources or reliable secondary sources for this Mayflower descendant.

Elisha Turner was a fourth generation descendant of Elder William Brewster, Mayflower passenger, through his son Jonathan.

His profile is barely out of it's original state, and can use lots of help. He lived in Scituate (part of Plymouth colony until 1691). He needs:

  • Birth, marriage, death citations?
  • He was baptized in the Second Church of  Scituate. Are the records online?
  • Wills, his, his wife's, his father's (hint his father's is on his father's profile) All in Plymouth County.
  • Children?
  • I noticed in the footnotes Scituate Rec. 1: 67, 121, 226, 278. Curious as to what it was I found it at Hathi.   Would someone please look them up and summarize them.

You can add information here, and get G2G points and/or directly on the profile. Both earn contributions.

The Hunt is on!  X marks the spot. Thank you.

I have the relevant Brewster Silver Book.  I attached several children to Elizabeth Jacob who also need to be attached to Elisha.

His profile is project protected.

Elisha Turner was born 08 March 1656 in Plymouth, Ma; he married Elizabeth Jacob

I've sourced the marriage and birth or christening of 9 children for daughter Mary (Turner) Silvester using Family Search.

The fact that it's project protected doesn't mean you can't edit it. You wouldn't be able to add children though, so I took the ppp off.

Thank you.

I've added some land records to his profile.

Someone (thank you) added his will to the profile.

There are still records to be found for Elisha

Anne,

This is my first hunt... not sure who is to add the information we collect. I have found birth dates, marriage dates death dates on his father, john Turner, Sr. & wife, Mary Brewster Turner.  She is Elisha's connection to William Brewster.  I see other answers and they are not using the same Elisha as me.  Elisha had 6 children only 1 wife. Where do I go from here....  Barbara

Hi Barbara, You may add the information with source citations directly on the profiles or list them here and I'll add them. If you add them on the profile you have two options: Write a brief sentence "so and so was born/died/married ...."<ref>source</ref> or just put the source in the sources section. Do whatever you feel most comfortable doing

Thanks for the help. The only thing to consider is that other people are also changing the profile. If we are using different dates, references etc,  won't this be a big mess.  How do you know you are using the correct info.  This is a very confusing case. Barbara

At the moment, I know the dates and places on the profile are correct. So we're looking for sources to support those dates. And if you add something that's wrong, it's not a big deal, because I look the whole thing over on Monday, write a biography (if someone didn't already write one), and can make corrections if needed.

I'm re-reading your answer. What Elisha (birth and death) do you have attached to John and Mary (Brewster) Turner?

Elisha Turner 8 March 1656 d. 24 April 1700, wife, Elizabeth Jacob Turner.    Elisha's father is John Turner Sr and mother Mary (Brewster) Turner.   Mary Brewster Turner is daughter of Johnathan Brewster and Lucretia Olham Brewster.    In reading the Brewster Book, it says that she was grandaughter of William Brewster . I am not convinced that this is right, but will still be reading.  Am I going in the wrong direction? I have not edited this yet.

Yes that's the person we're looking at.
