G2G: Help for the parents of my Grand Aunt?

I have hit a "brick wall" concerning the English parents of my Grand Aunt Mary Alice (Rasmussen) Bonine.  Her WT profile is Rasmussen-1651 . She was born in 1893 in Co. Durham, England, UK, and emigrated to the USA probably either just before or just after World War I (1913 to 1919).  I know her parents' names:  Thomas Rasmussen and wife Mary (Richardson) Rasmussen.  I do not  know if she had siblings.  She lived and worked in Washington D.C. or adjacent Maryland suburbs and married my Grand Uncle Maurice Bonine around 1925.  I have not looked for 1920, 1930 or 1940 US Census records but they should be easy to find.  It is the English records and dates for her parents, neither of whom immigrated, that I need.  There might be a record of her on the 1901 or 1911 England Census records but I cannot find it (Mary Alice Rasmussen, born 15 Nov 1893).  Thank you for any English researchers who might help me find out enough to post profiles for them.  Chet Snow

Are you sure about the parents.  There is a Mary Alice Rasmussen born in 18 Jul 1894 in Northumberland, well documented with other husband, but same parent names- see her Christening at:
"England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JWWJ-F2Z : 5 February 2023), Mary Alice Rasmussen, 1894.

Given what Rick Morley found above, is there any chance that Maurice Bonine was the second husband of Mary Alice?

The family of Thomas (Trols) Rasmussen and his wife Mary (Richardson) appear on the 1891/1901 and 1911 census in Newcastle.  The occupation of Thomas is electrical engineer and he was born in Bergen, Norway.  The children of Thomas and Mary (confirmed on GRO with mmn Richardson) were Christian Waldemar Rasmussen b Q3 1878; Anders Joseph Rasmussen b Q2 1883; Forster Richardson Rasmussen b Q3 1887; Martha Caroline Rasmussen b Q1 1890; George Thomas Rasmussen b Q3 1892; and Mary Alice Rasmussen b Q1 1894; additional children who appear on the census are Oscar bc 1872 and Eliza bc 1886 in Norway.

Thank you both - I think you are both right and that indeed either Mary was a young widow or divorced when she married Maurice Bonine around 1925 (I base that date on family photos that start to include Aunt Mary in the late 1920s).  As I said I am most interested in dates for her parents - is there a way I can access the 1891 or 1901 or 1911 England Census online ?  or do I have to be a subscriber somewhere?  That Thomas was born  in Norway is very helpful - I assume mother Mary Richardson was English-born.  I know Mary Alice always said they were both dead by the time she immigrated to America.

Anyone who can help me see those English records will be very helpful.  Thaks again!

Hi - Had other things I had to do today but THANK you for the England Census information - I will look it up ASAP.  Actually it is not too surprising that Aunt Mary had a first American husband where the marriage did not last too long; my grand uncle Maurice was a "rescuer" type of guy who had had a difficult childhood/adolescence too.  They were devoted to each other but with no children; of course I only  knew them later in life since I was born in 1945.  Still they were together until the early 1970s when he died.

You're welcome - I suppose the next thing to do, to confirm, is find out what happened to Jesse Byrne Maubeck after his marriage in 1917 (the husband attached to the Family Search Mary Alice Rasmussen) and then locate Mary Alice's marriage to Maurice Bonine (either as 'Rasmussen' or 'Maubeck').

Fortunately on his FamilySearch profile there is a reference to an Obituary - he died in 1978 in Washington DC and he had at least 1 son named John.  So, as my Aunt Mary had no children, I assume they divorced and each remarried.  I will add the 1917 marriage to her WikiTree profile - does anyone know how to look up Divorces, either for New York, Maryland or Washington DC?

I have found Jesse B H Manbeck's FindAGrave memorial = 10957076, his parents are buried in the same cemetery but no memorial for a wife or child or grave in the same cemetery in Pennsylvania either.  As I am most interested in my Aunt Mary, I will concentrate on her and try to find a marriage to Maurice Bonine as Mary Manbeck.
