John Prevost was the Pope Leo XIV's grandfather - where was he born exactly? Can anyone help solve this mystery?

Since the profile says he was born in Italy I think you'd better add an Italy tag to find help.

Done. I plan to look through Antenati for marriages, just wish we could find SOME record of migration somewhere for a better guess of origin region

I've already looked through the 1866-1875 and 1876-1885 birth indexes for the city of Torino and the church baptism records for Settimo Rottaro from 1868-1879. There's nothing that seems to be a good match. Someone on Family Search has given him an 1877 birth date based on a baptism record for Settimo, but the father on that record (Stefano) doesn't match the listed father on the death record (John).

Ideally, an immigration record and or marriage record is what you need to help narrow down origin location.

By birthdate, this is Louis Marius Prevost (1920-1997), his father

Yup that's him. looking for his birth and / marriage record. I've been going through the marriage index tables from France. Itll take a while!

I can give you an incredibly weak lead. My LaFaves were in Green Bay, 3 hours North, and they made a pit stop in Quebec. I don't know where in France they were from, but Fabre could be LeFebvre. I'm no expert on French genealogy - there could be Fabres there, but when I saw that, I immediately thought LeFebvre and Quebec, as in, not Ellis.
