According to her autobiography, Julia Ann Jane married George at her parents church in Albany, New York about 1839. It is suspected that would have been the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) congregation formed in 1828, and known as Israel AME Church.

For many years folks assumed she'd married a George Foote but that is proved the incorrect name of the groom at her first marriage.  She had first married George Tillman, of Boston. Then in 1859 at Cleveland, the widow Mrs Julia AJ Tillman married Beverly Foote, from Virginia by way of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Locating the 1830's church marriage record at Albany would be very helpful to fully reconstruct the family's New York movements.
