G2G: Source citation on my paternal grandfather changed my great-grandfather's last name to his wife's maiden name.?

Profile: Blacklock-558, Clarence Edmond Blacklock; the last source citation stated his father as Charles Barrett (which is his mother's maiden name) instead of Charles Blacklock..  I always use Wiki Tree Sourcer and  I have double checked the actual source book to make sure it is correct.

1.  I don't understand how this was changed.

2.  Do I edit the biography part of the Family History Book citation to show the correct last name, and if so, what syntax should I use?

Thanks to all, Tamy

It looks like the transcription on Ancestry is incorrect. The image of the family history book says “child of Charles Blackwood-Lois Barrett” but the transcription says the father’s name is Charles Barrett.

So Sourcer will use what is in the Ancestry transcription.

You can submit a user correction on Ancestry.

To edit the citation just go into edit mode on the WikiTree profile and change two places:

1 before the <ref> change “Clarence, son of Charles Barrett, married Alla Eugenia Tharp on 10 April 1913.” to “Clarence, son of Charles Blackwood and Lois Barrett, married Alla Eugenia Tharp on 10 April 1913.

2 Within the ref change “Clarence Edmond, son of Charles Barrett, marriage” to “Clarence Edmond, son of Charles Blackwood and Lois Barrett, marriage

Submitted corrections on Ancestry's sources for Blacklock Family History links to Clarence Edmond Blacklock and Charles Barrett to correct to Charles Blacklock. And thank you for notes on correcting WikiTree Profile sources.  All is completed.
