G2G: Why is Rachel Glover Gardner listed in comps as "Uncertain?"

She's in the Mayflower Society's John Howland Silver Book.

It is not a good idea to use short forms, abbreviations etc in G2G because people especially those who don't speak English or American English as a first language don't understand what the person who asked or answered a question means.

There are many words that are described as being the long form of the abbreviation 'comps'.

If you mean that her parents are shown as uncertain, it's because no one has set the status indicator to certain. Since there is a birth source in her profile, it can be set. However, I think her marriage in 1781 seems awfully early for a child born in 1770 and needs further proof beyond the [annotated] Nantucket VRs.

I don't have the Silver Book so all I could do is ask for a lookup like I did before. Will ask the same group like I did before...what exact info do you need for there to be a proper citation?

We'd want the volume & page number for the silver book. Then we'd want the source information from the sketch that supplies the info/sources on her parents and spouse connections.

I'm bringing this up because the dates don't jive. She'd have been only 11 years old at marriage, which is an impossibility in that era and locale. Usually if there's an odd situation like this, the silver book will attempt to make an explanation, such as a record that might be in error, or that they're mentioned in a parent's will with their married surname, etc.

Rachel is not found in the John Howland silver books.  She is, however, listed in the Howland "blue books". These books are titled "John Howland of the Mayflower", by Elizabeth Pearson White (Picton Press, 1990).  Rachel is in Volume 1, p 633. Her parents' bio is on p 632. This volume documents the first 5 generations of descendants of John Howland through his first child Desire Howland.

Rachel is listed as the 6th child of Lydia Fitch and Simon Glover, though the biography states that the child order is uncertain. The only information given for Rachel, beyond her name, is that she was born on Nantucket.
