I saw this but I am just wondering if you have any dates and which place are you needing records, North Carolina, Or Tennessee?  do you want marriage or births, and death records?  I won't do all the work for you, but I can get you started.

Tennessee became the 16th state in 1796 so before then you would have search North Carolina records until 1790 and then for the Southwest Territory 1790-1796. Also once Tennessee was declared a state much of it initially was still Indian Territory. A part of Tennessee was Indian Territory until 1835 when the Indian Removal Act of 1830 took the last Tennessee land from the Cherokee forcing them on to the forced march to what is now Oklahoma known as the Trail of Tears.

Now do you have any idea where in present day Tennessee or North Carolina your ancestors were located? Once we where today we can begin on where and when.

Rutherford, Hamburg, Tennessee Valley, NC, Macon, Haywood, Sylva, NC. I also remember mom mentioned Franklin and Andrew but I believe some moved to Transylvania before coming on down in to South Carolina around the Saluda River in Greenville and Anderson (Piedmont area of SC)
