G2G: How could John Lane have been born in New Haven, CT in 1603?

Question

In 1603, the Pilgrims had yet to land in Plymouth, MA.  The CT River Valley was only settled by whites in 1635.  His birth in 1603 in New Haven, CT is all over the geneology sites, but I don't see how it is possible.

1603 in the jurisdiction of New Haven, Connecticut or USA is of course impossible. If John was Native American perhaps he could have been born in the geographic place. (He wasn't.)

Agreed that it is highly unlikely he was born in CT in 1603. Perhaps he was from one of the Newhavens in England?

This Lane genealogy mentions a John Lane of Milford who died between 11 and 16 Sept 1669. http://archive.org/stream/lanegenealogies02chap#page/220/mode/2up I should think it unlikely that 2 John Lanes, residing in Milford in the mid-1600s, died in the same month, so I have to assume this is the person the death date is based on. The book makes no claim of John's English origin or ancestry.

On a related note, I have doubts about the sibling Roger born 1565 (~40 years before John) in Herefordshire. All the other linked siblings are younger than John and are given as being born in Staffordshire, England. between 1606 and 1620. Of interest Newhaven, Derbyshire is about 30mi from Blithfield, Staffordshire - speculating, perhaps this is where the confusion arises from...

Hi, my family is from New London, Ct. the Hempsteads who founded New London with Nathan Hale. A lot of them came over that early from what is now Long Island New York. I do know Josiah Hempstead would travel a lot up the Ct river to Hartford , New Haven area. If that helps. I am also looking for a John Lane or any lanes that are from Indiana.

The Lanes I am looking for came from Ireland, not England. So they may help.
