G2G: Is there more information about the Hess families in Buffalo?

Jacob Hess is listed in the 1850's  Buffalo Directories as living on 156 Sycamore. He is listed in all the directories as a baker. He came to the US from Hess-Darmstadt, Germany. His relative George Ludwig Hess came with his family in 1852 and lived/worked with Jacob Hess in the bakery.George and his wife died about 1860 and their children moved to Morris, IL. Jacob moved eventually to Kansas.

Jacob Hess was born in the United States in February 1787. He was a Wesleyan Methodist and a yeoman who lived in Princeton, Oxford County, Ontario Canada.

On May 1, 1831, he married Thoda Rouse (b. 27 Aug 1796 in USA) in London, Ontario, Canada. Together, they had Rhoda and Jacob Hess, both born in Canada.

He died on May 22, 1867.
