Looking for my Grandmother's mother family.  My grandmother passed away in August 1998.  She had a Church built in her name in Elyria Ohio.  Annie Lou Butler husband James Butler.  It is said her mother name was Susie Haynes they lived in Georgia and moved to New Jersey around 1950's.

Start by getting your grandmother’s death certificate.

thank you  I was able to see her surname and social security and will start there.

The death certificate should have her parents names. Social security application often have the parents names a well, but not always. The social security administration is quite slow in responding to requests like these.

This obituary/publication says she was born in Swainsboro, GA daughter of Jim and Arlene Haynes.  Also has her picture!

Also names her sisters Josephine Coppock, Jeraldine Phillips of Atlanta, GA, Pearl Coleman of Swainsboro, GA and a sister Jessie Mae Belle, deceased.   The Chronicle-Telegram Sunday August 17, 1997 Elyria, OH
