George Ellis Burris was born to a Lucy Ellis of Washington Parish Louisiana. I have not found anything about him or her. It states that a Jim Burris fathered him, but not sure. Lucy was a servant of the Burris House. She also bore a son by a Dr. Amaker named Almo Amaker.

This is one of the George Burris, who wife was Margie Mae Long Burris. The one we looking for was born a slave, George Ellis but later became George Burris. His wife was Ida Burris. Who had children , Katie Burris, Emmanuel, Theodore, Bessie, Osborne, etc.

George 'Ellis' Burris was the son of James Madison Burris Sr. a white slave owner that fathered three children, Lucy, George, and Sallie with the slave mother Rino (Burris) that started the black Burris lineage. George and Ida are my great grandparents

We will need more information -- have you found them in the censuses? Has a direct male-line descendant been DNA tested, and if so, what is his YDNA that he inherited from George?
by Owl (341k points)

There has been no DNA done. The George Burris we looking for was born a slave to be George Ellis, son of a Lucy Ellis. He later became George Burris of Washington parish Louisiana. Lucy also had a son Almo AMAKER, by  a Dr. Amacker. George was to be mulatto and Almo also.
