Jeanne Comeau was born about 1662 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Pierre Comeau (abt. 1598–bef. 1693) and Rose Bayon (abt. 1631–bef. 1678), very likely in Port-Royal since she was counted in the 1671 census with her family at the age of 9. [1]
She appeared again in the 1678 census at the age of 16.[2]
In 1686, at Baye des Mines, Jeanne COMMEAU (sic), aged 24, was living with her husband, Estienne HEBERT, aged 32, and their three children: Antoine, aged 6, Marie, aged 4, and Estienne (sic), aged 1. The family owned 2 guns and was living on 8 arpents of cultivable land with 7 cattle and 7 hogs.[5]
Étienne and Jeanne were also recorded at Les Mines in the censuses of 1693[6], 1701[7], 1703[8], and 1707[9].
Étienne passed away in 1713. The widowed Jeanne was listed twice in the 1714 census at Les Mines, living with her children, and next door to her other daughters.[10]
In the original 1686 census at Baye des Mines, Éstienne, the father, was spelled Estienne and Comeau was spelled Commeaux and transcribed Commeau. Also, Etienne, the son, was spelled Estienne.[11]

Pierre Comeau Widower; Pierre 18 1660; Jean 14 1664; Anthoine 17 1661; Jeanne 16 1662; 12 cattle 1 compass 4 oxen 14 acres. Notice that Pierre is a widower and that he has a compass. An item such as this would be useful to the authorities, for navigation, and for defense.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jeanne by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jeanne:
Doiron-520 and Comeau-102 appear to represent the same person because: First name same, birth year and place same. Death date same enough. Doiron doesn't match anything and should be discarded. Unsourced and unconnected profile.
