Anthony was the son of William Waldegrave of Bures St Mary, Suffolk and Margery Wentworth (called "Marey" in the Harleian Society edition of Essex Visitations).[1][2][3] His birth date is not known.
Anthony married Elizabeth Gray, daughter of Ralph Gray of Hertfordshire[1][4] and Anne Barnardiston.[2][3] Their marriage place is not known, but they married by 1512 when they received some of her property.[5] They had the following children:
William,[1][2][3] who married someone with the first name Katherine (they are named in records of Chancery proceedings[6][7][8]) and who may have died before his father made his will in 1570/1 as he is not named in the will[9]
Through his wife Anthony held property at Brent Pelham and the manor of Pepsall, Flamstead, both in Hertfordshire[2][3] (he and his wife gained possession of Pepsall in 1512[5]). In the period 1504-1515 he and his wife sued John Lee of Fittleworth in relation to the manor of Patching, Sussex, to which she appears to have been entitled as heir of "Johanne Goldesburgh".[10]
Anthony was buried at Burst St Mary, Suffolk on 22 February 1570/1.[11] His will, dated 1 February 1570 (1570/1), was proved on 5 May 1571. In it he:[2][3][9]
referred to himself as Anthony Walgrave of Bures St Mary, Essex (the parish straddled Suffolk and Essex)
requested burial in the North Chapel of the parish church of Bures St Mary
