G2G: My cousin took a Y-111 DNA FTDNA test #928788 I took the mtDNA. How do we connect?

Hello Becky,

Your cousin’s Y-DNA test relates to his direct paternal line only.  Your mtDNA test relates to your direct maternal line only.  So there is no connection.

If Y-DNA is added to mitoYDNA.org then adding that mitoYDNA ID to the Y-DNA testee’s DNA Test page in WikiTree automatically associates his Y haplotype with his direct paternal line in WikiTree.

If mtDNA is added to mitoYDNA.org then adding that mitoYDNA ID to the mtDNA testee’s DNA Test page in WikiTree automatically associates his/her mitotype with his/her direct maternal line in WikiTree.

Hi Becky,

If both you and your cousin have also taken the basic Family Finder autosomal (aka auDNA or atDNA) at FTDNA then you should be able to find information about your DNA match with him in your Family Finder matches at FTDNA. From your profile it appears that you have also tested at Ancestry, so if your cousin has also tested there then you would be able to see information about your match DNA match with him under the DNA matches at Ancestry. Ancestry only does autosomal DNA tests.
