G2G: Frank Carney, co-founder of Pizza Hut Dies

Question

Frank Carney of Wichita,  Kansas,  and his brother founded Pizza Hut. Frank died today.

I've always wondered if the story about the name being chosen because it fit on a second hand sign is true...

From the book, "Pizza Hut: the Pizza Hut Story," 2008, page 31, their first sign was provided by the local Coca-Cola distributor and was large enough for nine letters.  Pizza was the obvious word, which left room for a three letter word.  Their mother said their small restaurant building looked like a hut, so the name became Pizza Hut.
