G2G: Advice before editing this pre-1700 Carney profile?

Question

I have information to contribute to the profile of Mary (Carney) Martin. This is what I can add:

• burial place and date of death burial. Marriage date

These are the sources I am using:

• Genealogy of the families of Campbell and Rowley of Mount Campbell and the families descended from them, Prepared by Gilbert King (cousin of Captain Josias Campbell and Mrs Rowley) between 22 April and 29 May 1884. Table 1, the original of which is in the possession of Phil Jourdeuil

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

I can also add siblings Anne, Letticia, elizabeth and Richard along with dates of death and some marriages

Answer 1

1. I am unable to find the first source and have no clue as to its reliability. If it cites primary sources for this person, then those are the sources that should be found and verified. If this is an unsourced tree, then it isn't reliable and shouldn't be used to create or support pre-1700 profiles.

2. The second source only cites WikiTree as a source for information about this person, which means it's not a source at all.

You can peruse it at your leisure.  It is at least 135 years closer to the source of the earlier entries than current non digitized material. I don't have access to the notes and documents it was based on but the genealogy might be of use in helping find primary sources.
