G2G: Concordia Cemetery, Buffalo, Erie, New York

Question

While reading other G2G questions about the cemeteries project, I went looking for one of the cemeteries of my ancestors. It's not listed as a subcategory under New York Cemeteries or Erie County, New York Cemeteries but I could have sworn I've seen a category page for it in the past.

And do I understand correctly that there should be both a freespace page and a category page for each cemetery?

I happen to have a spreadsheet created many years ago of most burials in this cemetery. Could it be used for the cemeteries project?

I couldn't find an existing category for that cemetery, but one could be created. It should be called Category:Concordia Cemetery, Buffalo, New York, and should be a subcategory of Buffalo, New York, and Erie County, New York, Cemeteries.

There should be both a freespace page and a category page for any cemetery that is having a transcription posted on WikiTree. The transcription should be on the freespace page, with links to the profiles. That page and the profiles of people buried there should be in the category.

If you created that spreadsheet, or have permission from whoever did create it, then yes, you can use it for the Global Cemeteries Project! Just let me know if you want the project badge, and you might want to check out the challenge we're having in January!

Lianne, I wonder if you could expand on your answer a little bit, or perhaps just point me to the documentation if that exists somewhere?  I'm not sure what "having a transcription posted" implies, and I'm not clear on exactly what we're supposed to do to create a cemetery category.  I did create one a while back, and it looks like most of the others, but I don't recall doing anything special to create a free-space page,  I did add a link to the Find A Grave description, as most of them have.  I couldn't find much discussion of this in the help files.  Thanks!

I've gotten in touch with the woman who created it originally, and who was supposedly updating it several years ago. After googling it, I see no evidence that she ever completed that project. I'll let you know what her response is.

I would be very interested in your spreadsheet.  I was very interested in the work you have posted about your buffalo ancestotrs on your website because I have Buffalo ancestors named Schmidt and Schueler.

In trying to tie together your work with waht I had on my family, I started collecting every electronic record I could find on-line about people from Erie County and putting it into one database.

I was more interested in doing a "one place" study for Erie County New York. then a Cemetery study, but Concordia certainly should be a sub-category of erie County.
