Hi Graeme, I cannot get a response from the manager of this profile. It needs to be merged however it also contains incorrect data some of which for some reason is made private, eg her husbands name which is there twice, one public and one private, and ditto her son James.

30 days after a merge has been proposed, it can be completed by anyone, whether the PMs have approved or not.  In this situation, that timeframe has gone by since it was proposed Mar 11, 2020.

Makere, you are the PM on the profile that is locked, Therefore, you can go in now on your profile and select the Merge in the Matches and Merges section.  You will be able to complete the merge. The other PM has nothing to do with it since they didn't respond and you have a locked profile. If you need help with the merge, send me a message and I can help you since I am an Arborist and work on merges frequently.

When you select the merge, it does have to be done into the lowest sequence, which is the other profile, BUT all of the text is merged, although in this instance there does not seem to be any sources on either one.  Normally, you would need to remove any duplicated text or sources.   You will be able to choose what information is used for dates and locations.

Hopefully, the dates match.  You will also see that 'both' parents will be on the merged into profile.  The reason that both profiles currently say the siblings are 'half' is because the 'mothers' of the profiles do not match to the other Profiles.

You just proposed a merge of the duplicated 'mother' profiles, so those cannot be completed until both PM approve or the 30 day window expires.  It is always a good idea when one merge is proposed to review the other relationships, especially the parents and spouse to make sure that they are the same Wikitree ID so their merges can be proposed at the same time, instead of having to possibly wait 30 days.

You don't have to remove duplicated spouses or children from profiles because that actually helps someone to realize that they are duplicated profiles when that is seen. Normally the parent profiles should be merged first, then the children so people can see that there is duplicated family situation. When a merge is done, it is resolved automatically.

Both managers need to approve a merge for the"private" connections?

Even when the 30 days are up, Makere will still not be able to complete the merge, because one of the profiles is 'private'.

Thanks for this detailed answer Linda.. I have 'unprivated' myself however one of the profiles in the other is also locked. I will go back in again later today and see what I can do.

You need to file an Unresponsive Profile Manager form.

The manager for 1141 hasn't been active since 2020

They can also send a note to Admin info@wikitree.com since they have already waited the 30 days and they will complete it, if she can't complete it.

Thank you for this help. 2020 - that's only 4 months ago though? Is that long enough?

You will have to email info @ wikitree.com and ask them to complete the merge, since one of the profiles has a yellow lock and is private.  Only they can complete the merge.
