G2G: begging for a lookup in Łosiacz, Bezirk Borszczów, Galicia, later in Poland...

Question

My learning is not curving fast enough!  There is a family gathering this coming weekend - Before it happens, I would love to be able to find out a little bit more about the ancestors of my aunt by marriage.  It is her celebration of life on Saturday -- we were not able to hold the event during Covid so having it now.  I will be meeting some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren for the first time!  I'd love to be able to give them a little more info, such as her parents' wedding date or another generation of ancestors.  

I was able to find immigration info and a bit about their grandmother's very early years in Canada, but the shifting political boundaries and even more the languages are a big barrier for me for this town, which was in Galicia when her mom was born, then Ukraine, then Poland when her parents came to Canada, then Ukraine again.

I am sorry but I cannot find Wawryk or Haplyk in the area you have shared,  although I have found Wawryk in Galicia before.  Have the spellings been changed? O.K. if you do a general search of Lodiscz, Wawryk or Haplyk  information will come up but you will need to translate.

Thanks Lynn!  But there is nothing for either of those surnames there, it seems -- seems oriented mostly to Jewish ancestry.

do a general search of losiacz and the name wawryk or haplyk,  you will get information but you will have to translate.  Family search also has information on their search and check their book section for records that are not searchable by name usually records by date.

Wikitree has a wonderful space dedicated to Galicia and the person who's in charge and runs the Galicia project would be a great person to ask about all things Galicia.  I'm not sure she'd be able to give you a quick turn around, but still a wonderful person to touch  base with on the topic.
