I can not locate any birth record for Sterling Minor or Stirling Miner in  Black Rock or Black Hawk USA. My cousin, recently deceased assures me he was born in Black Rock New York state; his father was Samuel. He was somehow involved in a war at an early age , where his father was killed. He   then went to work on whaling ship as a cannon boy. Apparently he then was a part of US Nay until he came to Australia in 1825 aboard the Thistle or Huron.

Thank you Frank. I really appreciate your efforts. I realise that indicated by most to have been born in Blackhawk but as yet, I have been able to find no records to validate this. I would also like to know  if this is so, which branch of the many Minor trees/brnches would he  be attached to. As  a genealogist I realise how frustrating and often time consuming it can be to find validation but it must be done.

 Cheers
