Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers on their 9th World Series Championship!

What an unforgettable finish — only the fifth time in 121 years that the title was decided in extra innings of a Game Seven! The Dodgers franchise traces its roots back to 1883, but didn't arrive in Los Angeles until 1958. As the Brooklyn Dodgers, they captured their first championship in 1955. Since relocating west, the Los Angeles Dodgers have added titles in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988, 2020, 2024 and now 2025.

Below is the roster from the Dodgers’ inaugural Los Angeles season. Please help us celebrate their legacy by sprucing up their WikiTree profiles and ensuring every player is connected to the Big Tree!

Cool, I will see what I can do on those.  My father used to drop us off at the Coliseum (as pre teens) to watch the games. (LA was different in the dark ages).  We collected autograps and had a great time.  For Christmas we got tickets for the first game at Chavez Ravine.  Good Old Days.

OMG  I am old enuf to say Good Old Days. Yikes. Also it is my birthday today and that is also Yikes. And the team members today are the age of my grandchildren. Yikes.

Happy Birthday Kristina! I also grew up in Los Angles, but am a bit too young to remember them playing at the Coliseum. I was more of the  Fernandomania Era.

Thanks, David!   I was out of LA in about 1963, but watching the Dodgers is one of the best memories of my childhood there.

You missed 2024.

You are correct - I've updated the post!

The comments have been a bit quite this challenge but out players are quickly being connected and CC7s are rising.

Connected in the first three days are:
Randy Jackson (Judith Fry)
Don Demeter
Dick Grey
Ron Fairly
Don Miles

Eight more have had their CC7 increased.

Great job by our silent partners!

After twelve days we have connected an additional two players: Gino Cimoli and Don Newcombe and have increased the CC7s of 17. Nineteen players plus owner Walter O'Malley still need to be connected.

All four grandparents used to take us to the Dodger games back in the 70s. Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey -- solid infield.

And we can't forget Tommy Lasorda - that was truly a classic era.

Legendary Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley is now connected to the Big Tree. His O'Malleys go back several generations in the United States but I eventually hit a roadblock back in Ireland. None-the-less, he had another great-great-grandfather, William Showers, who owned Showers Tavern in South Westerlo, Albany County, New York, in the mid-1800s, and who had a WikiTree profile.

Bob Wilson is now connected through his wife. I did not find him in any U S Census record on FamilySearch, nor in the World War II draft registrations. I also did not find him in any Canadian records.

The connection was made through clues in family photos on his son's Facebook page.

That's amazing. Growing up in Southern California, I am a Dodgers fan to the end, so this is especially cool for me.

In March, I paly do feature another MLB team. Do you have a team you'd like to request?
