We're halfway through 2026, and we're doing great! May-August is usually our slowest months for the US Black Heritage Project, but I've been pleased with the continued energy and work in all areas. We're on track to reach 775,000 profiles by the end of the year.
In Quarter 2, we focused on breathing a little more life into our Military & War Team and have since started working on Civil War regiments that correspond with the 1880 census focus each month, and we have now broken our main team down into teams for the major wars.
We continue to focus on clean up tasks for older profiles (created before USBH started in 2020) to get them up to current standards.
The July Connect-A-Thon was a very exciting event for our project because we saw new connections between existing family profiles being made throughout the entire weekend. This means we have finally reached a critical mass in numerous locations that allows us to more easily connect families. We have been working toward this goal for 6 years, so it's a very big deal.
We hope you'll join our Third Thursday Zoom session on August 20th. This is a coworking session (we each work on our own projects while chatting), but we'll also have a short presentation at the start: "Simple Things You Can Do to Help the US Black Heritage Project While Working on WikiTree."
Thank you WikiTree for your continued help and support!
