Hi Ivonne,

We're so happy to see you are still active on WikiTree and caring about the Dutch profiles. The Dutch Roots Project is looking forward to give the project a new fresh start to put the Dutch in a more prominent place on the WikiTree map. The project is currently managing over 50,000 profiles and the total number of Dutch profiles on WikiTree exceeds 500,000! Within the project we are monitoring the quality of the Dutch profiles and assisting other WikiTreers in producing those profiles. We would love to pick up some other tasks but to do so we need more volunteers. This is why we check in with the members of the DRP to see if you would like to help us expand.

1) Would you like to do some volunteer work for the Dutch Roots Project? 2) If yes, what kind of work would you prefer to do within the Dutch Roots Project? E.g. translating, sourcing, or something else you want to work on?

We hope for a positive reaction but please don't feel obliged to volunteer. We just want to have a group of persons we can ask to help us with certain activities

Kind regards,

Margreet, on behalf of the Dutch Roots Project

Hi Yvonne,

We have noticed that a citation by Genealogietools.nl does not always contain a correct link to the Openarch source.

Therefore we kindly ask you to remove the link to Openarch if there's already a link to the Wiewaswie website. Or check the link to Openarch.

Otherwise we need to correct all the incorrect url's afterwards.

Thank you!

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the message. I have been trying to correct and add more sources to my old profiles. Not to sure what I have done wrong here and on which profiles I have done this. Is there a suggestion page or a profile that will show me where I have gone wrong. Sorry trying to do the right thing but obviously still not doing it correct :( Thanks Ivonne

I apologize Yvonne,

I should have mentioned that the comment was not personal but only a copy of a post we put on G2G.

We posted the warning on G2G, but were afraid SaT participants would not notice it, so decided to also post on the profiles of the Anglophone SaT participants, assuming they are big users of Openarch and Genealogietools. So it was mainly in the context of the upcoming SaT.

You are in no way to blame for a wrong url generated by the Genealogietools!

And actually you have only 1 instance of that OpenArch problem in the profiles you manage.

Happy hunting! Jan

Hi Yvonne,

Removing PPP from all not notable post 1811 profiles managed by the Netherlands project

As a first step in our quest for a more managable list of project managed profiles. We are going to review all post 1811 Project Protected Profiles. Every profile from this period which is not a notable profile will lose it's PPP-status.

Our reason for this measure is to get a list which conforms to the WikiTree rules for PPP's (wikitree uses a 200 years limit) We use 1811 becausee it is the start of the civil registration.

Hi/Hoi Yvonne!

We really need you this time! If you have time, please help.

WT is organizing weekly challenges this year under the name: “Year of Accuracy” We worked on many before but next week will be special.

If you like it or not, we need your help this week just to show what we as DRP are capable of - starting on Wednesday the 9th of June and it is during a week after, starts probably late for us Dutch (after midnight) - the challenge is to bring down brick walls for Dutch genealogist Yvette Hoitink.

She did great research on her family. This challenge is about showing we can do better!

We have, of course, already DRP members joining the challenge, but most participants are Americans. They will need help on translations, finding reliable sources, Dutch Naming Conventions (as we will dive into profiles before 1811 and probably need to use patronymics and never use Middle Names) and adding biographies. We are sure foreigners need help. And learn lots because of this challenge but they need some help from us.

Please, your help is much appreciated.

Hello,

Just a friendly message to let you know that there is a blank space in front of the =Sources= heading on this profile. Since this profile is locked, I am asking if you would be willing to remove the blank. In edit, you can put your cursor where the asterisk is.

  • = Sources =

Then delete the blank space. Click on preview and your heading should be fixed. Save it and you’re done. Let me know if you need any help. Best, Linda Wikitree Data Doctor
