Hello Sue

Just a reminder that the connect a thon starts on Friday at midnight (Sydney time) for 72 hours - so thats until Monday at midnight. Please adjust start/finish times for other states.

Here is our team page which has lots of info - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Super_Aussie_Genies_-_SAG_Challenge_Team

During the thon we can communicate in 2 ways - - via Discord - see the team page for how to connect. This is live chat. You can join the Super Aussie Genies channel or the Australia Thon Channel, or both! This is the best vehicle to learn from others. - via the G2G page. I've put this message on the page and sent it earlier today. If you didn't receive it, it's because you don't have the tag for 'SAG' or 'Australia'. Please add a tag so you receive future messages. You can ask questions on this page during the thon and any team members can answer. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1676667/calling-all-super-aussie-genies-for-january-2024-connect-thon

Enjoy the thon - feel free to message me if you have any problems!

Talk more on Discord soon...

Hi Sue,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Hi Margaret et al,

I'm still here. Still addicted. Still really a bit inclined to pick up and run with stuff that's of interest and ignore the ones that are too hard or not my thing... Trust you are okay with that. See you in the burrows. Sue

Thanks Sue for responding to the check-in message, and for your ongoing contributions to WikiTree and the Australia Project, they are much appreciated! That all sounds very much OK!

Sue,

Thank you for being part of the Charming Chestnuts team this weekend. Leon Tuck was the #1 Olympian, and our team won a bronze medal, a silver medal, and a gold medal, and achieved first place overall! Great job, and great fun working with you, too! ~ Star

G'day, Sue. Thank you for all your past work with the Australia Project! This is just to touch base with you as you may not be aware that Project Australia has been restructuring some of our Teams, specifically what was under "Profile Improvers". We've decided to split into four related but separate teams underneath the "umbrella" of Profile Improvement: namely, Sourcerers, Data Doctors, Biography Builders, and Connectors & Arborists. As your name is on the current Improvers Team member list, we've placed you on the teams as indicated by your stated interests (or all of them if nothing is indicated). If you'd like to continue as things are, there's no need to respond in any way (although you are more than welcome to do so). If you'd like to change, add, or subtract a team (or teams), you could let us know which one or more of the new Teams you'd like to continue with going forward by replying to this message, editing in (or out) your area(s) of interest on the relevant page(s), or contacting me by private message (or on discord — where each Team now has its own channel on the WikiAustralia server). Looking forward to working with you! (If you've already made changes, feel free to ignore this message.)

Thanks Melanie... I am bewildered by the teams thing but happy to help out with a variety of things. I usually pick up project tasks according to my perception that my skills match the task... I'm a rabbit-hole kind but happy in the burrows.

Don't get hung up on the "teams" thing, we'll leave things as they are. Just keep doing whatever you usually do — rabbits and all. Smile smilie (black and white).

(I'm rather fond of rabbits, myself.)

Hello Sue,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Hi Sue,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out our annual check-in to see how you are going in the project. We'd really like to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles over the past year! We think we've made great progress in 2020/21 with your assistance.

Please could you reply to this message, to let us know if you would like to stay on in the project and if you are happy with your current role and team involvement. If you would like to do something additional or different, take a look on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to get any feedback or suggestions that you have to improve the project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Margaret Haining Membership Coordinator

Hi Margaret,

I have found belonging to the Australia Project educational as well as generally interesting. I am inclined to respond only when I think I can be useful with a specific question. I have tried to encourage those new to Wikitree to a better understanding of the shared tree objectives and advantages. I enjoy sourcing and connecting but I'm probably best qualified for New South Wales research though we have many relatives who require me to be a little familiar with other states (particularly Queensland and Victoria). I don't yearn to on a specific team unless I can help. Let me know if you think there is a team that needs something specific I may have to offer.

I am not free to play genealogy all the time, but I do occasionally join a thon and devote most of a weekend.

Sue

Hi Sue,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

To contact me, use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment to be sure I will be notified.

Hi, Suye!

Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.

Keep up the great work!

Hello Sue,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

We currently don't seem to have you down for any particular team. Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know where you would like to participate. You can check on the Australia Project page to see what options there are. The Profile Improvers team might suit you.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also you might consider adding Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G.

I look forward to hearing from you.

In particular, we are ready to launch our new teams for the project. Please could you let me know what team/s you would like to contribute to. A list of teams is on the Australia Project page. Please respond by private message.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Thank you for the comment. It looks like you are in Australia. I don't know if you would be any relation. All my family Crerars are from Binscarth, Manitoba in Canada.

Hi Sue - Wondering if we are connected via the Nottle family? My 3x Gt Grandparents, George and Elizabeth came to Sydney from Cornwall on the Tartar in 1857. Some of his siblings went to SA and Vic. Let me know if I can be of any help, Leis x
Hi Sue,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Sue,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Have fun and ask for help in G2G if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. It’s a fun place too. Take a look at what I mean here, G2G’s Question of the Week.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
