Reijer married 2 Ariaantje Pieters of Bovenkarspel in on October 20 1697 in Abbekerk. Children: Cornelis (1697, married Trijn Jacobs Graft, died 1763 in Aartswoud, children Jacob, Dirk, Reijer). Cornelis mentioned several uncles in his will.
Reijer first appears on the Aardswoud Reformed Church membership list in 1690. Ariaantje joined the Abbekerk church in 1698. Interestingly, she is the only person on the membership list who is listed in connection with her husband. This record names him “Reijer Cornelis Sluijs”.
They transferred their church memberships to Wervershoof on June 11 1699 when they moved to Zwaagdijk. On Aug 3 1704 they transferred their church memberships to Hoogkarspel, just 3 months before his brother Cornelis & family transferred their memberships to Wervershoof, settling in Zwaagdijk. One gets the feeling Cornelis took over Reijer's farm. On June 14 1705 they transferred their church memberships to Benningbroek. Reijer Cornelisz Sluijs died on Friday May 1 1708, between 11 and 12 noon. Ariaantje died Nov 27 1708, just months later, in Oudkarspel.
