Thanks for joining the Tree Hugger Project/ Appreciation Team! I've awarded you a project member badge.
Please read the Tree Hugger project page and the Appreciation Team page and add Appreciation to your list of followed G2G tags. When you have a chance, please submit a join request to our Google Group, where our project communicates. Please make sure to add your name and WikiTree ID to the request so we can get you set up. Here's a link: https://groups.google.com/g/wikitree-appreciation/members
Hester stil lives and were creating her profile only to realise she came to Wikitree by also creating a profile of herself, therefor the merge. Stil a work in progress and maybe thats something that can be mentioned on the top of the biography.
Any sugestions are welcome since I myself is stil new to wikitree and learn semething new every day.
Was her first profile largely from a GEDCOM? They tend to leave a trail of junk on profiles. It sounds as though that's what happened here. Whichever Profile Manager wishes can go into "edit" mode to fix this. You probably know this, but you will find it below the rows of awards (Club 100, DNA, Big Heart) and to the right of the header that says "Profile (public view)." You or she can delete anything that is ... inappropriate.
I created the original profile, I send her the link to her profile I created and then she created her own due to not knowing what she had to do, I was able to receive her wiki id and then intiated the merge. If you happen to see any mistakes been made or stil in place please let me know, I myself also is stil quite new to Wiki and this I think happened to be my very first merge attempt.
Welcome to the Connectors Project! Be sure to check out the Connectors project page to see some of what we do, our To-Do lists which have folks who need connected to our Global Tree, and please add the connectors tag to your G2G feed. We've also got a great sub-project, Connectors Chat, where we talk about what we're working on and where we'd like to help out. If you're new to making connections and want some simplified connections to work on, look at our Connecting Buddies page. Thanks for joining us!
Thanks for your participation during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.
I am just doing a follow up for the Integrators Project.
Now that the connect- a -thon is over and maybe you have extra some time,,,,, you could add a profile or two from the needs category and get on our tracker.
Also, you can put a sticker on your profile You can do so by adding the words Integrators Challenge with the {{ }} in front and back, in your biography.

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Sources are very important here on Wikitree, especially on Pre-1700 profiles. It is how we show where we got the info and help others find it too. Find out more about sources here and more detailed info here.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.
Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. If you have any questions, click reply below this message and I will get back to you.
Hi Marco, a warm welcome to WikiTree! Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. When you create profiles, the system won't show duplicates already existing when the LNAB's (LastNameAtBaptism/Birth) are spelled in different ways. Duplicates are problematic because they cause a lot of unnecessary work for all inlvolved. So you need to search manually first, sort by date, and then find the already existing profiles. A few handy links to get you started:
South Africa as such and the provinces did not exist until the 20th century - please hide the automatic place names suggestions for pre-1900 South African profiles!
I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site
Happy tree climbing
