Hello,
My Grandfather Jayme Rodrigues de Azevedo, De_Azevedo-57, b.1909 is listed as "filho reconhecido" on his civil birth registration performed by his father in 1912, in Belem, Para, Brazil

Is this a designation used by civil registrars that is equal to the church's "filho legitimo"? Or does this indicate he was born "filho natural" and later recognized by the father?
Thank you for any help anyone can provide,
Steven H Harlan
