Hi Wikitreers

In a search of antiquities we have Anna M. Klein who was at Whitman Bridgeport Studios June 25, 1910 and had a beautiful photo of herself taken. The questions are intriguing was this her wedding dress? Where was Whitman Bridgeport Studios? Maybe Bridgeport, Ct? Is her maiden name Klein or maybe her married name. A wonderful photo but her genealogy needs connecting.

Any collaboration to help Anna M. Klein is appreciated

Thank you

I think you got it. She was Catholic I believe it appears she is wearing Rosary on her neck. Born in Czechoslovakia per obit cited on her FindAGrave her obit was in the Bridgeport papers so place matches. Interesting!

Her age in 1910 abt. 22 same as appearance in photo
Hi Andrew, honestly I can't see a rosary around her neck, only a long necklace. Moreover, it would be unlikely for a Catholic bride at the time to use one as a necklace, as it would be considered inapropiate because a rosary is not meant to be use as jewelry, but a prayer instrument. A different case is a cross pendant in a chain. If she wanted to, she could have a rosary in her hand or laced with her bouquet. Many catholic married couples (even today) had rosaries hanging on the wall over the headboard of their bed. There's a nice article about it here: https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/wearing-the-rosary-as-a-necklace-4581.

Thank you this is helpful as the necklace is possibly not rosary and I’m not Catholic but intrigued by the necklace. The dress I assumed was a wedding dress but maybe it’s not. Good link yes

Hi
For me it looks like a normal dress around 1910.
White wedding dresses became more popular after the wedding of Queen Victoria in 1840, but many people could not afford a special wedding dress (as in today, where a wedding dress is only weared once). So they married in their best dress or "Sunday dress", same for bride and groom. It was still common to marry in the best dress up to the 1950ies.
