G2G: Who Was Elizabeth (1629?-1685), Wife of Jacob Perkins of Ipswich?

Question

Is there any evidence for the LNAB of Elizabeth Perkins, wife of Jacob Perkins? She was born about 1629 in England and died at Ipswich in 1685. The names Lovell and Whipple have both been proposed, but I believe there is no evidence for either.  She is currently shown with Lovell parents.   Anderson does not give her a last name.

I believe that her LNAB should be changed to Unknown and that she should be disconnected for her current parents, with a note in the Bio.

Vic, I think you're right-- following Anderson, Great Migration Begins, p 1432. Unless there's been some analysis more recent than Anderson. (I couldn't find any on NEHGS.)

Just a little 2021 update.

Since she is known to have married a Perkins, we left the profile of Elizabeth (Lovell) Perkins in place, but severed her relationship to Jacob.

We are now reviewing the association of Jacob Perkins as the spouse of Elizabeth Whipple. While we find that association in print, we are not able to identify historical records in support.

Matthew Whipple had a daughter, Elizabeth, who was under the age of 20 and apparently unmarried at the time he wrote his codicil, shortly before he died. Thus, even if we sever the Perkins-Whipple marriage, we will leave the profile of Elizabeth Whipple in place.

In the event we do sever the Perkins-Whipple marriage, we will create a new profile for his wife, Elizabeth _____.

The source for Lovell as wife is: Jacob Perkins of Wells, Maine and his Descendants 1583-1936, compiled by Thomas Allen Perkins, published 1947.

I dont know how reliable this is, but this is the source.

There's a copy of this book on Ancestry.com. The foreward claims the author looked at town records, but the contents of the work itself include no source for the claim that Lovell was Elizabeth's maiden name. :-(
