With the genealogists I've spoken with, researching the York family is notoriously a pain, especially online. Between having incorrect records widely spread (I'm looking at YOU, Fayette County, Pennsylvania Vital Records, 1750-1890! I only found out you were faulty recently!), and attempting to look for "York family" online providing pages of results referring to families in New York and families in York, England, it's exceedingly difficult to get answers to questions prior to the census years.
Still, I must know.
Andrew York married a woman named Catharine. They were both supposedly born in New York state. They might have married in New York State. Who knows? Not me! I have Andrew's confirmed census information from 1850 forward. There is an 1840 Andrew York in NY that is not him, but might be his father; there is no guarantee or proof that this is his father.
Andrew ended up dying in Pennsylvania.
I have not seen any listing of his wife's full name in any records thus far, though not for a lack of looking. If anyone has any information relating to Andrew that they have on hand or might have found, please let me know. Also if anyone knows of any York family books specifically focusing on Pennsylvania and New York, that would be a great help. I'm okay with going through books on my own, but I need to actually have my hands on said books.
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
