G2G: Parents of Janet Cowan 1621, Margaret Martha Erskine and Alexander Colquhoun as cited in many myheritage family trees?

Question

Janet Cowan, born St. Ninians, Stirling, Scotland 1621 died Falkirk, Scotland 28th August 1663 Married Robert Bennie, son John Bennie.

I have numerous matches telling me her parents are Sir Alexander Colquhoun and Margaret Martha Erskine but when I research these people they are documented to have different spouses and children. I can't find any other record of Janet Cowan parents.

Jenny, I see even the generation below Janet in WikiTree has no genealogically valid documentation. Rather than starting at this point with this family line, I would go downstream from Janet until you have bona fide primary source documentation for the people, the dates and the geographic locations. From that point work backward only as quickly as you can find primary or verifiable secondary source documentation. Beware any suggested matches at any site like My Heritage, Ancestry, etc. when there is a "Sir Anybody" involved.
