G2G: Has any one in New Zealand traced their roots back to Rollo the Dane

I have traced my genealogy back to Rollo, he is my 31st great grandfather, was wondering if others have made the connection, we may be related

Who's the gateway ancestor over there? Mine came in from Cornwall in 1864.

My Great great grandmother Grace Lawrence she came to New Zealand from England with her husband in 1891.

Don't worry too much about being from the West Island Rob, as long as you lot keep your hands off our stuff all will be well - Pavlova, etc 

My gateway ancestor also came from Cornwall! It would be great to have a "Gateway Ancestors for the Antipodes" page here on WikiTree :) Loads of work involved in getting a page like that up and happening though!

A Viking from around the 10th century

One of his descendents was William of Normandy AKA William the Conqueror (who invaded England in 1066) which means anyone being a descended from Rollo will most likely also be descended from a royal.

Yes we are ... and it's so exiting when as a new genealogist you actually make that connection! I was rapt when I proved that line back

Years later I understand we are all related and likely all go back to Rollo somewhere - but I'll never forget the buzz making that initial link, and then even better, proving it was - for me, and my family! It was quite magical at the time :)
