Current Focus

On a mission to add Beall ancestors from 1800’s Alton, Illinois; and ancestors from the 1700’s Alexander Beall line, from Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Main Sources

I am not a genealogist; my main sources are other experts who have done sound and reliable research.

  • Elise Greenup Jourdan: Early Families of Southern Maryland, Vol. 6, from 2007; covers the five Beall families of Maryland; detailed and well-sourced data; she corrects a number of errors made by others (e.g. F.M.M. Beall). [1]
  • Jack Day: Maryland Beall Families database, excellent resource for research, comparison of data from various sources, etc. [2]
  • Elizabeth B. Heterick, Five Families "BEALL" of Maryland; a good resource; good data on wills [3]
  • William Hunter McLean, Alexander Beall – 1694-1744 of Maryland, One Line of Descent in America, 1977; a good resource for selected Bealls of the Alexander Beall - Thaddeus Beall lines [4]

Hello Stephanie,

Have you seen the WikiTree Profiles for John Jackson-10499 and Ruth Beall-525? There is a pretty good amount of information there. If you are looking for more, I do have both of them loaded on my Ancestry.com Family Tree, and there might be some additional information that isn't in their profiles. Let me know what you're looking for beyond what you see in their profiles.

Steven - Nice getting to know you a little bit via your profile here and those of your Beall ancestors. Sorry you lost your father at such a young age. He was a very handsome man, like your grandfather. I have just one suggestion: remove on your list of "main sources." I would not include Fielder M. M. Beall among those who "have done sound and reliable research." He gets credit for having started the ball rolling, but some of his errors are so egregious that "Colonial Families" etc. should be in a different class, like "use at your peril." Replace him on your list of "sound and reliable research" sources with Janice Taylor or Donna Valley Russell. See Donna's great work on the family of Charles & Tabitha Beall, Western Maryland Genealogy Vol 8., No. 3, July 1992.

In answer to a comment you made on Henry VII's profile page:

Henry VII's mother was only 13 years of age when he was born. It has always been assumed the pregnancy damaged her hence she bore no children to either her 2nd or 3rd husband.

I posted some more information about the Ann (Nichols) Beall maybe m2 Robert Wellmore with Beddo connections. Ann seems to have moved to: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nichols-9438. Most of my information can be found in the unpublished genealogy "The Bealls of Maryland" by Henry Wright Newman found in the Maryland Archives, but also see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Beddo-12 for a more complete list of sources.

FMMB -- Fielder M. M. Beall -- is full of errors, although he's also a treasure-trove of facts. Whenever another major source disagrees with him, just assume he's wrong!
