Biography

Jane Morrow is a Project Member of the Southern Pioneers Project.

I-M253

I was born and raised in southern Indiana. After a 25 year career in PR and marketing at three universities, I now work remotely.

By the time I was old enough to become interested in genealogy, my parents and most of my parents siblings were dead. All I remember is that my daddy claimed his family was from Ireland and my mother's family was from Germany.

As I began my research, I wondered why my parents never talked about more details of their family histories. Doing this research for nine years now, I'm guessing that after WWII, my mother stopped talking about being German and for whatever reason, my daddy didn't disclose the Confederate side of our family. I even wonder if he didn't know very much himself. There was so much upheaval with moving and families torn apart between settling a new country and then engaging in two wars, documents were lost, lives lost early, memories fading, that his family may not have talked about their roots for many generations before him.

I wish they were alive so that I could share the rich and surprising history of their families. As a WWII Navy man, daddy would have loved to know that his ancestors were some of the earliest Europeans in Virginia and North Carolina and served in the Revolutionary War. This website has been a godsend for me and my research and a source of great pleasure/addiction.

Hi Jane, it's been a couple of weeks since asking if you wished to remain in the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'd appreciate you letting me know by the end of February if you desire to remain in the Project. If I haven't heard from you by then, I'll assume you no longer wish to participate. I hope to hear from you soon, thank you.

Hi Jane,

As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.

Many thanks,

Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader
