G2G: U.S. Civil War African American Soldier James Harrod (1838) in the 29th Co. K. See “Recapturing Black History”

Question

James Harrod was in Company K, 29th U.S. Colored Infantry per his pension record to Wife Cecelia (Gole) Harrod. We need some Civil War group help in adding sources and connecting. His daughter Sydney Harrod worked as the “Maid” for Actress Gene Tierney’s mother Belle Lavinia (Taylor) Tierney (1893 - 1978 in 1900.

What flag can we use for his civil war sticker? Maryland?

Note: per the NPS—Regiment lost during service 3 Officers and 43 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 188 Enlisted men by disease. Total 234.

This book looks to be a great read “The book Hearth & Home: Preserving a People's Culture.” By George W. McDaniel.
