G2G: Great News from the Swedish Colonial Society

The Swedish Colonial Society, which published most of the available writings of their late genealogist, Dr. Peter Stebbins Craig, has released a completely new website. They have now made available, for free, all of the "Forefather" articles as well as back issues of the Swedish Colonial News (1990 - 2014) and its successor, The Swedish Colonial Society Journal (2015 - present). See the "NEWS" tab on their home page. The site includes additional essays, maps, church histories and other items of genealogical interest.

An new, expanded biography of Peter Gunnarson Rambo should be in the hands of the editor of the Gloria Dei Church for publication in December by Ronald S. BEATTY, author of the Rambo Family Tree, Vol. 1-5.  In addition, during the historical Farmstead Dedication at Gov. Prinz Park, June 12th, 2022, a reenactment of the 375th wedding of Peter Gunnarson Rambo and his wife, Brita Mattsdotter will beheld. Keynote speakers will be Ron BEATTY, Cynthia Forde-BEATTY, co-Genealogists of the Swedish Colonial Society. Rambo Reunion Luncheon will follow the morning festivities at the Corinthian Yacht Club.  The Swedish Colonial Society website will be announcing the event.

The Swedish Colonial Society has a YDNA project for males who believe they descend from one of the Forefathers.  The project was initially funded by donation to find gold standard YDNA to help prove Forefather status.  The project is listed on the FamilyTreeDNA website.  To participate, take the FTDNA 37 marker YDNA test, and join the Project.  Funding is no longer available.  If you have questions, feel free to send look on the SCS website or message me.  Cynthia Forde, Genealogist, Swedish Colonial Society
